2008 Donation to Good Shepherd Health Clinic
Ronnie Brassfield, President of the Cruis’n Angels Car Club of Muskogee, presents a check in the amount of $7,000.00 to Jewell Schroder of the Good Shepherd Health Clinic.
The Good Shepherd Health Clinic is made up of doctors, nurses, and staff volunteers who donate their time and services to people in our community in need of medical attention and do not otherwise have the ability to pay. The Clinic is completely dependent on donations, so the Cruis’n Angels have chosen to put their efforts into helping them…. help others.
This money was raised at the 8th annual Cruis’n Angels car show held at the Muskogee Phoenix – BancFirst Plaza across from Arrowhead Mall. The annual show is the 3rd weekend in May each year.
The Club is active in Muskogee and its surrounding areas, donating their time to help others with their fundraising efforts, Brassfield says, "We want to give back to our community, which means so much to each member of the car club.””
We want to thank our co-sponsor, BancFirst, along with all of the other local businesses that donated their time, money or both to make this a successful event. |
Cruis’n Angels Car of the month
WAYNE & LINDA ARTERBURN
WE ARE THE OWNERS OF THIS 1938 CHEVY PICKUP.
LICENSE PLATE ON OUR TRUCK SAYS “AWESOME 38”
A FEW YEARS AGO, WHILE EMPLOYED BY O.N.G. GAS COMPANY, I WAS LUCKY ENOUGH TO HAVE BEEN WORKING WITH A BUDDY THAT OWNED THIS AWESOME 1938 PICKUP. HE WAS PLANNING TO MOVE OUT OF TOWN AND I HAD ADMIRED THE TRUCK FOR A LONG TIME, AND FELT THAT I JUST HAD TO HAVE THIS AWESOME TRUCK. WE WERE ABLE TO MAKE AN AGREEMENT AND I WAS ABLE TO PURCHASE MY DREAM, EVEN THOUGH IT WAS HOODLESS. WHEN I BOUGHT THE TRUCK IT DID NOT HAVE A HOOD. MY BUDDY TELLS A STORY, OF A DAY WHILE THE TRUCK WAS BEING TRANSPORTED TO GORE ON A TRAILER. THEY WERE CROSSING THE ARKANSAS RIVER BRIDGE, EVIDENTLY, THE HOOD HAD NOT BEEN LATCHED DOWN TIGHT, AS THE CROSS WINDS LIFTED THE HOOD OFF THE TRUCK, UP OVER THE SIDE OF THE BRIDGE AND IT FLEW OFF INTO THE WATER OF THE ARKANSAS RIVER, AND NEVER SEEN SINCE, LATER ON, AFTER I HAD BOUGHT THE TRUCK, A CAR CLUB BUDDY, JOE SCHMIDGALL WAS SEARCHING EBAY FOR A HOOD THAT WOULD FIT, AND WAS ABLE TO LOCATE A HOOD IN FT. SMITH ARKANSAS.
THE ‘38 CHEVY TRUCK IS PAINTED MAROON AND CREAM AND HAS A CHEVY 350 ENGINE AND 700 R4 TRANSMISSION WITH A MUSTANG II FRONT END. IT WAS BUILT BY JEREMY RODDEN IN FT. GIBSON.
THE TRUCK HAS MAROON TWEED UPHOLSTRY PUT ON BY WAYNE HARTSFIELD OF WAYNE’S AUTO TRIM IN MUSKOGEE.
WE DID HAVE LINDA’S FAVORITE SONG, THE OU FOOTBALL SONG, ON THE HORN IN THE ‘38, NOW I HAVE TAKEN IT OFF AND WILL PUT IT ON HER CONVERTIBLE, AND HAVE PUT THE OOGA HORN BACK ON THE ’38.
WE ENJOY PARTICIPATING IN ALL CAR SHOWS POSSIBLE, AND HAVE WON BEST OF SHOW A COUPLE OF TIMES AND HAVE WON LOTS OF TROPHIES, BUT THE BEST WIN OF ALL IS ENJOYING THE DAY & VISITING WITH THE PEOPLE AT THE CAR SHOWS AND HAVING A GOOD TIME.
YOU CAN FIND US EVERY TUES. AND SATURDAY NIGHT AT THE SONIC ON SOUTH YORK & CHANDLER IN MUSKOGEE, (WEATHER PERMITTING).
STOP BY AND VISIT,
